Winners determined by highest number of points at end of tournament. Points earned by teams winning 1) individual games and 2) higher seeded teams winning games.
A. Individual Game Scoring
o 1st round victory: 1 point
o 2nd round victory: 2 points
o 3rd round victory: 4 points (Sweet 16)
o 4th round victory: 8 points (Elite 8)
o 5th round victory: 12 points (Final 4)
o 6th round victory: 16 points (Championship Game)
B. Bonus Scoring
1 to 3 seed difference (e.g. a #2 seed beaten by between a #3 and #5 seed) is awarded the following number of points according to round #:
o 1st round upset: .5 point
o 2nd round upset: 1 points
o 3rd round upset: 2 points (Sweet 16)
o 4th round upset: 4 points (Elite 8)
o 5th round upset: 6 points (Final 4)
o 6th round upset: 8 points (Championship Game)
4 to 7 seed difference (e.g. a #2 seed beaten by between a #6 and #9 seed) is awarded the following number of points according to round #:
o 1st round upset: 1 point
o 2nd round upset: 2 points
o 3rd round upset: 4 points (Sweet 16)
o 4th round upset: 8 points (Elite 8)
o 5th round upset: 12 points (Final 4)
o 6th round upset: 16 points (Championship Game)
8 or greater seed difference (e.g. #2 team beaten by any team greater than a #9 seed) is awarded the following number of points according to round #:
o 1st round upset: 2 points
o 2nd round upset: 4 points
o 3rd round upset: 8 points (Sweet 16)
o 4th round upset: 16 points (Elite 8)
o 5th round upset: 24 points (Final 4)
